I would like to speak to Natasha Jewell’s character. First, she is an asset to any and everyone that she comes into contact with both professionally and personally. I was introduced to Natasha during my first and only pregnancy while in my third trimester in October 2022. She has been nothing short of amazing since the first time I spoke with her on the phone. On top of being extremely professional, she is considerably understanding and empathetic. She is one of those incredibly unique people that come into your life and make you feel like you have known them forever. Natasha became more than just my doula; she is my friend. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I encountered minor “complications” but given it was my first pregnancy, I did not think of it that way at that time. Natasha came into the picture right when I needed her the most. As soon as she was make aware of what I was experiencing, she did not hesitate to offer accompanying me to my doctors’ appointment. Even though I had only known her for maybe a couple of weeks at that time, with the exception of a handful of individuals, I was more comfortable with her being there with me than I was with people I’ve known my entire life. Because of her experience and knowledge of being a doula as well as a mother, she was and still is able to help me in ways that I did not know I would need. When it came time for my induction, Natasha was beyond helpful. As a first time mom, I did not really have any expectations of the type of support that I would need/want but I can say that Natasha did everything that should have been done and then some. Of course, labor was up and down but she was there to make me as comfortable as I could have possibly been in that situation. I remember she brought her laptop, speaker, aroma therapy, etc. to help me stay relaxed. Those are touches that make me feel like a mother would know to do. More importantly, once my contractions starting becoming intolerable and I did not really know what to do, Natasha respected my boundaries without hesitation and her positive energy/demeanor never shifted. As much that was going on during that time, I will not ever forget the way Natasha made me feel during that time.
